Resumo

“Juntos e Associados – A compreensão e a prática da relação Irmãos e Colaboradores Leigos para a Missão na Província Lassalista de Porto Alegre” pretende ser uma tentativa de verificação da vivência da associação Irmãos e Leigos nessa Província.

João Batista de La Salle fez da associação a mola propulsora para estabelecer na Igreja Católica um novo tipo de Instituto, o dos Irmãos das Escolas Cristãs, constituído unicamente por Religiosos Leigos, para oferecer educação humana e cristã à infância pobre e abandonada, primeiro em Reims e, após, em Paris e outras cidades da França.

Durante muito tempo apenas Irmãos assumiam a tarefa educativa nas Escolas do Instituto. Aos poucos, porém, outros professores passaram a colaborar com eles, e em número cada vez mais significativo.

O Concílio Vaticano II devolveu ao Leigo o papel que fora seu nos primeiros séculos da Igreja, quando era chamado a viver, na radicalidade, sua condição de batizado e evangelizador.

Essa abertura atingiu igualmente os Institutos Religiosos, que se abriram à presença e à ação do Leigo, no exercício da missão, e na adoção do carisma do Instituto, como inspiração para a vivência da especificidade ou estilo de vida de Leigo.

As respostas de Irmãos e Colaboradores Leigos de Escolas da Província Lassalista de Porto Alegre possibilitaram uma idéia aproximada de como nela está sendo concretizado o “Juntos e Associados” para a realização da missão do Instituto de ser fator de promoção humana e de anúncio do Evangelho pela educação, especialmente da juventude pobre e excluída nestes tempos da globalização.

Abstract

“Together and by association – the understanding and practice of the relation among Brothers and Lay Collaborators in the accomplishment of the mission in the Lasallian District of Porto Alegre” intends to be an attempt to check how the association among Brothers and Lay Collaborators is being lived in this District.

John Baptist de La Salle has turned the association into a motive power to establish a new kind of Institute in the Church, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, formed only by lay brothers, aimed to offer human and christian education to the poor and the abandoned childhood, first in Reims, and, afterwards, in Paris and other cities of France.

During a long time only the Brothers have accomplished the educational task in the schools of the Institute. However, little by little, an increasing number of lay teachers were led to collaborate.

Because of the Vatican Council II, lay people regained the role belonged to them in the first centuries of the Church: as baptized, they were called to live radically their condition of baptized and evangelizers.

Due to this opening of the Church, the Religious Institutes also have opened their vision in relation to the presence and action of the lay people, not only concerning the mission, but also the adoption of the charism of the Institute as an inspiration to live the specificity or the lay lifestyle.

This background and also the responses from Brothers and Lay Collaborators of Schools from the Lasallian District of Porto Alegre made it possible to get an approximate idea of how the “Together and by Association” has been concretized to the fulfillment of the Mission of the Institute of providing human promotion and the announcement of the Gospel through education, specially in favor of the poor and the excluded young, in this time of globalization.
