Todavia, a resistência é desintegradora.

Abstract The fundamental argument of this thesis is that the analysis through the Cultural Anthropology makes possible to notice the social, historical and cultural process that created the book of Daniel. This way, the work hypothesis is that Daniel’s group is in a process of social change, being deprived of social status, which forces him to a new framing in the social structure of Palestine in the Century II B. C. This change happens for the transformation of social and historical conditions of the society. In a first place, the social interaction with the foreign domain is noticed as relatively peaceful. In that moment, resistance is demanded on the part of Daniel’s group in relation to the demand of the dominant culture that tries to affect the values, beliefs and attitudes of the group. However, the resistance is integrated, that is, there is no need of the group to give up of its culture and religion to reach success in the preservation of the linemarks amid the foreign culture. In a second place, the social interaction becomes tense and conflictive. In that moment, resistance of the group is also demanded, because the demands of the new social order militate against the elements that characterize the culture and the religion of Daniel’s group. However, the resistance is disintegrating in two senses: first, there is a hope that the foreign domain will be disintegrated; second, it comes as possibility the disintegration of the own group. I any way, Daniel’s group should resist until the death.
