Resumo Esta investigação se desenvolve na área de teologia prática com ênfase na educação cristã e procura identificar o lugar e função da imagem expressa em pintura, no período da Reforma Luterana, ocorrida na primeira metade do século XVI. No primeiro capítulo, busco compreender o contexto e fatos que deram origem à ruptura entre igreja e imagens expressas através da pintura. Procuro contextualizar e localizar as fontes teóricas principais, o Reformador Martim Lutero, o artista Lucas Cranach e o conjunto de obras de sua autoria, que forma o retábulo do altar da Igreja Saint Marien de Wittebberg. No segundo capítulo, trato de conceituar os termos e conteúdos presentes na obra de arte, buscando fundamentá-los a partir da concepção teológica de Martim Lutero. No terceiro capítulo, procuro mais explicitamente entrelaçar o conteúdo teológico e o conteúdo da arte, identificando, na obra de arte, a possibilidade de uma educação na dimensão do Reino de Deus.
Abstract This investigation is developed in the practical theology area with emphasis in Christian education and it tries to identify the place and function of the image expressed in painting, during the Lutheran Reform, that took place in the first half of the XVI century. In the first chapter I attempt to understand the context and the facts that caused the rupture between the church and the images expressed through the painting. I try to context and to locate the main theoretical sources, the Reformist Martin Lutero, the artist Lucas Cranach and the set of his production that forms the altar’s retable of Saint Marien of Wittenberg´s church. In the second chapter I consider the terms and contents that are in the work of art, trying to base them according to Martin Lutero´s theological conception. In the third chapter I attempt to interlace the theological content and the art content, identifying in the work of art the possibility of an education in the Lord’s Kingdom dimension.
