| Resumo | Esta dissertação analisa a teoria e a prática educacional da Igreja Adventista do Sétimo Dia. A pesquisa começa com as raízes históricas do Movimento Adventista, mostra o surgimento do Adventismo do Sétimo Dia, as doutrinas centrais e a obra educacional na missão desta Igreja. Posteriormente, é apresentada a base teórica extraída da bibliografia usada para comparar teoria e prática. O primeiro capítulo apresenta o Movimento Millerita, a organização da Igreja Adventista, as contribuições de Ellen G. White, a chegada do Adventismo ao Brasil e a missão desta denominação com relação a educação cristã. O segundo capítulo começa com a filosofia educacional Adventista e a respectiva proposta pedagógica, continuando com a metodologia e o sistema de avaliação, além de expor o relacionamento da escola Adventista com a comunidade que a rodeia. O terceiro capítulo reúne as peculariedades Adventistas apresentadas no primeiro capítulo, justamente com a teoria que embasa esta educação confessional, e apresenta a prática constatada na pesquisa de campo em uma instituição Adventista. Este mesmo capítulo também destaca as afinidades e contradições encontradas ao comparar-se a teoria com a prática. Com base no que foi constatado através da pesquisa, pode-se afirmar que a educação Adventista deseja preparar os estudantes para o mundo presente e para o futuro, transmitindo-lhes as informações necessárias para um bom desempenho profissional, mas tendo como prioridade a restauração da imagem de Deus nos seres humanos. |
| Abstract | This Master’s thesis studies the theory and ther educational pratice of the Seventh-Day Adventist Chuch. It begins analyzing the historical roots of the Adventism Movement, the appearance of the Seventh-Day Adventism, its most important doctrines and the role of the education in the mission of this religion. Then, comes the theoretic base extracted from the bibliography used to make a comparison between written intentions and the real pratice. The first chapter presents Miller’s Movement, the organization of the Adventist Church, the contrbutions of Ellen G. White, the arrival of the Adventism in Brazil and its mission including the Christian Education. The second chapter starts with ther Adventist educational philosophy and purposes; it continues presenting the respective methodology and evaluation and also exposes how the Adventist school act in their neighbour community. The third chapter, gathering the most important Advenist peculiarities from the first chapter and the theory studied in the second chapter, shows the real practice extracted by a research in an Adventist school. The last chapter also comments the affinities and the contradictions found in the comparison between theory and practice. The research makes possible to say that the Adventist education seeks to prepare the young for the present world and the world to come, transmitting information for the world of work, but having a primary goal: the restoration of the image of God in the students. |
