O século XX, também conhecido como o século das desilusões, experimentou de maneira vertiginosa todos os desenlaces do pensamento moderno. Ao mesmo tempo em que viveu todo o apogeu de uma racionalidade que implementou um modo de vida onde a tecnologia facilitava o dia a dia do ser humano, teve que enfrentar também a crise gerada por esta forma de pensar. A crise da modernidade é a crise de valores, a crise da alma, e, sobretudo, a crise ambiental. Vivemos hoje um período onde vemos todos os valores modernos sendo questionados, e, à frente desta inquisição, podemos notar o movimento ambientalista, que surge com força, reivindicando uma transformação na forma de pensar o mundo e, principalmente, na forma de agir no mundo. Neste ínterim, encontra-se a Educação Ambiental que tenta construir uma nova forma de conhecimento capaz de fazer uma releitura da relação do ser humano com o seu meio ambiente. Porém, a Educação Ambiental não pode abrir mão de transformar a Educação mais tradicional, criada sobre moldes cartesianos que levaram o ser humano a esta situação de crise. A Educação Ambiental deve despertar nos educandos e educandas o desejo epistemológico de construir uma nova relação entre o ser humano e o meio ambiente e do ser humano entre si, revelando uma nova ética, uma nova espiritualidade, uma nova técnica, diversificando a linguagem, desvelando novas racionalidades e valorizando outras formas discursivas. Este trabalho faz uma análise das bases espirituais e cognitivas que construíram a modernidade ocidental, partindo da premissa de que a crise ambiental, apesar de não ser um problema exclusivo do ocidente cristão, teve uma grande amplificação a partir desta visão de mundo, levando a um momento crucial de sobrevivência do planeta. Partindo das bases, busca contribuir para a discussão das novas espiritualidades emergentes e propor alternativas de espiritualidade compatíveis com um novo paradigma que já surge no horizonte, mas ainda não se apresenta no cotidiano da vida.

Abstract

The twentieth century, the so-called "The Century of Delusions", has experienced all the results of the modern thinking in a very fast way. At the same time that the human beings had to live the rational thoughts of an era where technology made it easy the people´s way of living, they also had to face a crisis borned by that new way of thinking. We can say that the crisis of the modern world is the crisis of the soul, values, and above all, the crisis of the environment. Nowadays, we live in a period where all the modern values have been questioned. Because of this questioning, we can notice the growth of the Environmental Movement claiming for changes in the way of thinking about the world and also acting on it. On this context, we have the Environmental Education which tries to create a new way of knowledge that is able to reread the relations between the human beings and their environment. Nevertheless, the Environmental Education can´t lack the desire of changing the Traditional Education which has been formed in the Cartesian patterns. In fact, these patterns have taken the human beings to the crisis mentioned above. The Environmental Education has to create a new relation , new bonds between the human beings and the environment. Besides that, it needs a new relation among all the human beings, revealing a new ethics, new spirituality, a new technique, diversifying the language, showing new rational thinkings, and valuing new discourse forms. This paper brings us the analysis of the spiritual and cognitive bases that have built the occidental modernism. It takes for granted that the environmental crisis had a great increase which took us all to a crucial moment of survival in the whole planet. Although it´s not a unique problem of the occidental Christian world, the environmental crisis has increased because of that way of understanding the world. Starting from the basis, this work tries to contribute to the discussion and studies of new spiritualities and also offer alternatives to the spiritualities compatible with a new paradigm which has already appeared in the horizon - so to speak - but we can´t see it in people´s life routine yet.
